My latest addiction---Vintage Three Wheelers

3wheeler.jpg

This little trike I made to carry a cooler.  The bed worked out great for this!

Started as a push scooter I found in the garbage.  Ended up as a tiny fast mini.  This was a 4HP tecumseh on a tiny frame.  No weight to push made it really fast.  A young man bought it for a pit bike for this years drag season.

Well, I built it, rode it, sold it.  Way too fast for me.  Standing straight up and going 40 MPH was enough for me!!!

This is my favorite mini bike.  I love fat tire mini's. Rear tire is 25"x12" This is one of the few projects I have built and kept.

I wanted to try building a cart again.  This was fun to build.  I did not use any plans.  From mind to hand I built this.  7 HP with torque converter.  Already sold it!!!

Latest Build.  This will be Logan's first Mini Bike.  Currently he has a small three wheeler.  I picked this frame up late last summer.  I am using a 2.5 HP Briggs and Stratton that I have completely rebuilt.  Also, I have used a pully from a riding lawn mower for the rear wheel drive.  I had a new pully clutch laying around so I have decided to go with belt drive.  This looks like a perfect size for my boy!

My golden beast.  I just finished this "not so mini".  I used a 1982 Honda CB frame that I recieved from my brother.  Fabricated a fat swing arm and split and rewelded the from forks to accept a front fatty tire.  Powered by a 9 HP Tecumseh and a TAV2 torque converter this ride likes to climb.

This is a big mini I finished this summer.  Talk about mixing power with fun.  I love to ride this!  First thing I built that I could actually pull wheelies!

Here is the latest project.  Another Big Mini.  This time with a rear swing arm instead of a sprung seat.

Well, I finished it today and can you believe I even painted it?  Once I got the governor bypassed, I was cruising.  This project has plenty of power and handles very well for a three wheeler.  Total work time was approx 20 hours.  It took me four working days to complete it.  I can't wait for the paint to dry.  Now I just have to find a place to ride.  If anyone looking at this knows of any legal riding spots in north eastern Ohio, please e mail me to let me know.

Here is a little trike I made for my boy.  After all was said and done, about $50.  It actaully goes pretty fast for  2 1/2 briggs.

This is going to be awesome.  Can you see it coming together?  This will be a pretty good sized three wheeler.  Once again I just gathered some materials I had sitting around the garage and started my Saturday evening project.  This was an old Honda Big Red fork and some Home Depot black iron pipe

Ok I know it's ugly, but it is fast and fun.  Due to the Torque Converter, this has really nice power.  I just have to get aroung to painting it!

This day I went to the flea market and got a 3.5 Tecumseh engine,  a set of wheels from a very old snowblower one which had a nice #41 spocket on it.  I took these items and my son's small bike that he just grew out of and make this little diddy.  It goes really good and drives nice with the bike tire in the front.  I built this in one day two weeks ago.  I rode it that night.

This turned out really nice.  I wanted a small mini bike with a sissy bar.  I used a front end off a older sturdy moutain bike.  It saved me a lot of time sice I didn't have to make a fork.  The flea markter bought 4 HP techumseh does really nice.  This is so comfortable to ride with the sissy bar.

This little guy I built for my 6 year old son.  It was fun and very easy to build.  The power plant is a 2.5 Briggs and Stratton.  I used an old office chair and the handle bars off his little retired bike.  You have to pay attention to the seat to realize how small this really is.  I love the simple look of it.  Like everthing else I build, it needs painted!

Well the story behind this mini is as follows.  I came home from work on a Friday this summer and my wife told me my nephew was going to have his Baptisim this coming Sunday.  Since I knew he would be getting the same old gifts from everyone else, I thought I would build him a mini bike.  One again, this was a quick ugly build.  The 5 HP Tecumseh gives it a lot of power for a little kid.  You gotta check out the rear seat spring system.  I built it out of automotive valve springs.  It works great.  This little mini was a nice surprise for my nephew.

The"Not So" Mini Bike

0106.jpg

She's Done!  And boy does she GO!  First ride today went flawless.  Very cold and very slick roads, but it was fun.  My feet barely touch the ground.  That's how I wanted it!

Now I have to get her painted.  One ride on the road and the salt is already at work in less than an hour.  I gotta pick a cool color!

imag0039.jpg

With a 5HP Tecumseh engine, this baby cruised.  My kids were kind of affraid of it unless I was driving.

This trike was a simple design.  I mean really simple.  One summer day I went out into the garage and said I was going to make something new to ride with just the parts I had laying around.  This goes pretty good too.  About 35mph with only a 3 1/2 HP Tecumseh garbage picked motor!  My daughter Sheila loves it!

Went right to the garage after work today.  I had Sheila's Trike on my mind.  I wanted to get a new seat on it and a front wheel that matched the rear wheels.  We are going to patint it tomorrow!

OK.....Now it was time to get serious and make something with BALLS.  This is a QUAD I built using 1" square piping and a 5HP Tecumseh engine.  Also taken from the trash.  I used a Comet Torque Converter, and this baby goes.  It hauls me at 6'1" 330lbs with no problem!

atvquad003.jpg

Here is the Quad finished with a "motocross" yellow paint job.  I could not believe the power this thing has.  Torque converters rule!!!!!!   Sorry I did not take any pictures in the early stage of building.  It went very smooth though.
